Men Therapy Session

Caroline Curlin, Ph.D., HSPP - Center Director

I have been a psychologist for 20 years and feel grateful that I have found a profession that I truly enjoy. It is quite rewarding to develop connections with others to instill hope, and increase meaning and satisfaction with life. I enjoy working with people of all ages—from preschool and school aged children, to adolescents and adults—and with a wide variety of presenting issues—anxiety, depression, trauma and loss, child behavior problems, parenting difficulties, eating disorders, and relationship issues. I have found that I relate particularly well with adolescent girls.

I particularly enjoy utilizing mindfulness-based therapies to help develop ongoing coping strategies that will be of use long after clients leave my office. I have an active and meaningful meditation and yoga practice that broadens and deepens my work with individuals in addition to providing personal growth and stress reduction.

An additional interest of mine is working with victims of trauma.  I served for 3 1/2 years as a CPT in the Army National Guard, assessing and assisting soldiers in the disability process who suffered from PTSD and TBI  (traumatic brain injury).  Additionally, I have received specialized training in an effective treatment for trauma, Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing, or EMDR, which has been recognized as a valid treatment of trauma by the American Psychiatric Association and the Department of Defense.
